Seriously injured pilot after a small plane crashes

Fellsmere, Florida – A pilot of a small plane was seriously injured after crashing in Rural County of Indian River on Thursday, according to local officials.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said a single -engine plane fell east of the 95 interstate around 10:30 am in an undeveloped area of ​​private lands in the city of Fellsmere.

The Florida Fishing and Wildlife Conservation Commission also said that one of its officers responded to the area, located in Corrigan Ranch, right next to State Road 60, around 11 am

Fellsmere police said in a Facebook publication That a man who pilated the plane was taken by helicopter to Hach Hca Hca Florida Lawnwood in Fort Pierce.

“When they arrived there, they found the pilot,” said Fellsmere police chief Keith Touchberry. “The pilot was alive. The pilot needed immediate medical attention.”

The pilot’s name was being retained until family members were notified.

The authorities said no other people were on board.

Police said the Indian River County Sheriff and Indian River’s fire rescue also responded to the scene.

FAA is investigating the cause of the accident.

The National Transport Security Board said they also opened an investigation.

The NTSB said their investigations involve three main areas: the pilot, the plane and the operational environment. As part of this process, the researchers said they will collect the following information and records:

  • FLACKING DATA
  • Recordings of any air traffic control communication
  • Aircraft maintenance records
  • Meteorological forecasts and real weather and lighting conditions at the time of the accident
  • Pilot license, grades and recent flight experience
  • 72 -hour history of the pilot to determine if there was any problem that could have affected the pilot’s ability to operate the flight
  • Witness statements
  • Electronic devices that could contain relevant information for research
  • Any surveillance video available, including bell cameras
