Local concert workers say it is terrified of the proposed Trump rate

Portsmouth, Va. (Wavy) – President Donald Trump announced tariffs on goods in Mexico, Canada and China.

Many people say this could be a start of a commercial war. Basic goods such as clothes, gas and even Tequila will cost more. Entrepreneurs in 757 say that the effects of this measure are scary.

“It’s really scary. It’s absolutely horrible, “said Instacart Driver, Mary Barows.

The White House said the tariffs are being implemented to press three three countries, China, Canada and Mexico, to stop the flow of fentanyl and immigrants.

China’s assets would see a 10%rate. Mexico and Canada would see a 25%rate. Specifically, oil, natural gas and electricity would tax 10% of Canada. However, Monday morning, Trump and Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that they agreed to delay tariffs in at least a month.

The Timothy Scales truck driver said these rates will limit his work.

“Well, between and I leave the place every day, so the last time when Donald Trump was in office and put tariffs on China, who reduced our work,” said Scales. “Then, I mean, I lead local. I went from doing like ten containers a day so I don’t like it. So that really affected me. I mean, it affected me how I was going to support my family and everything, you. ”

In response to the order, Mexico and Canada are taking reprisals. Canada ordered 25% tariffs on US imports. Mexico has mentioned retaliation rates, but have not announced a number.

Instant’s driver, Mary Barows, said this will make basic foods for her family more difficult.

“Prices that will affect us greatly because Canada provides us with a lot,” said Barows. “It is as if everything was going to rise in price, which makes the groceries even more accessible. As if it were really difficult to receive groceries. Even with food assistance, it does not cover a whole month of groceries for a family of seven like mine. ”

Scales does not believe that this helps reduce illegal immigration and fentanyl export.

“No, because at the end of the day, many of these people trying to get it out, (they are) who are doing the jobs that nobody else wants to do,” said Scales. “And besides that, I mean, drugs seem to climb more instead of going down. We no longer want us to buy it in other countries. So we love each other here. But you put tariffs on all, so it makes no sense. ”
