Jurors who consider a comed scheme on day 4 of deliberations in Madigan’s corruption trial

Chicago – The jury continued on Monday deliberations at the Federal Corruption trial of the former president of the Chamber of Representatives of Illinois, Michael Madigan.

The deliberations exceeded more than 20 hours in the extortion grocery trial of the now 82 years, who, together with his former confidant Michael McClain, denies any irregularity.

While four women and eight men work to reach a consensus on 23 criminal charges against Madigan, the jury sent a note to Judge John Robert Blakey on Monday, asking about an alleged scheme that involves comedy and a seat at the Board of Public Services One of Madigan’s associates.

The jury members sought assistance to locate a telephone call a day between the Coacusado McClain and the former head of Comedida Anne Pramaggiore. Blakey, prosecutors and defense lawyers refused to share the correct exhibition number. Instead, jurors were told to use their best memory to find what they needed.

WNG’s political analyst Paul Lisnek said that all indications suggest that jurors work hard to process all evidence.

“They are talking about the evidence,” Lisnek said. “They are weighing the evidence and comparing notes with each other.”

Prosecutors accuse Madigan and McClain of using their political power to operate a criminal company to enrich themselves and their friends.

Deliberations resume on Tuesday.
