Arrests after the ‘unpaved’ attack in Bristol after the football game

Six people were arrested after two men were injured in an “not caused” attack after a football match.

The two victims, aged 20 and 49, walked through Marina Dolman after the game between Bristol and Blackburn Rovers, when they were attacked by a group of men on January 25.

Avon and Somerset police said men suffered cuts and bruises during the incident.

Six people have been arrested in relation to the attack, the last one is two men, 19 and 22, who were arrested under suspicion of violent disorder on Thursday after a planned operation.

Sergeant Sam Bracey said: “The images of the CCTV cameras and shared on social networks that show the incident have been analyzed, and several witnesses have been spoken, as part of our efforts to identify those responsible for this unpleasant attack against Two men.

“Six suspects have been questioned today in relation to what happened and released on bail to allow more consultations to be made,”

Sergeant Bracey said that the last arrests “mark an important step forward” in his investigation and that the force continued “to seek criminal convictions against those responsible” and the “significant orders of soccer prohibition”,

“Ultimately, there can be no excuse for such a shocking violence,” he added.
