Jonny’s family members, who have been suffering emotionally and financially, are now waiting for the award of the Superior Court of the appeals presented by the convicts that challenge the judgment of the Court of First Instance.

It is still uncertain when the HC will conclude the hearing of the appeals of the convicts and will issue its verdict, since the jurisdiction of its bank in question has been reconstituted by the president of the Supreme Court about six months ago.

Since then, the audience remains postponed.

Jonny’s family members have not yet received compensation from the convicted defendant, although the Court of First Instance ordered them to give TK 6 Lakh to Jonny’s family, since the HC has issued an order of suspension in this regard, The lawyer MD Rezaul Karim, lawyer for the victim family said.

A group of 25 to 26 police officers, then included the sub -inspector of the Pallabi Police Station, Zahidur Rahman, raided a house during a wedding ceremony in the Iranian camp area of ​​Pallabi and picked Jonny, which was then 28 years, and his brother Imtiaz Hossain Rocky, on February 8, 2014.

Police reports that Sumon and Russell called the law agents after Jonny slapped Sumon for harassing and harassing women in the program. Police then tortured the brothers at the police station, according to the statement of the case.

After Jonny fell ill the next day, he was admitted to a local clinic. Later, he was transferred to the Suhrawardy hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

On August 8, 2014, Rocky presented the case of murder before the Court of the Metropolitan Sessions of Dhaka.

On September 9, 2020, a Dhaka Court condemned the former if Zahidur and the former assistant of Sis Qamruzaman Mintu and Rashedul Islam of the Pallabi Police Station to life seven years in jail.

The court also asked each of the former officers to pay the compensation of TK 2 Lakh to the plaintiff, Rocky, through Bangladesh Bank and fined Zahydur and Rashedul Tk 1 Lakh each. Sumon and Russell were fined 20,000 each.

This was the first and only verdict under the law of torture and death custody (prevention), 2013.

Mintu is fleeing, and Russell, who had been fleeing during the delivery of the judgment of the Court of First Instance, was delivered to the lower court later.

Zahidur, Rashedul, Sumon and Russell presented appeals to the HC that challenged the verdict of the Court of First Instance. Russell won the HC bail on November 22, 2022. Zahidur, Rashedul and Sumon are now in jail.

Rocky said that he still has no compensation for convicts, since HC has not yet eliminated its appeals.
