New York’s mother accused of the bathtub of the 6 -year -old daughter was ‘baptizing’ the girl: prosecutors

A disturbed mother from Brooklyn who was arrested after her 6 -year -old daughter was found dead in his bathtub He told the Police that “he was baptizing his daughter,” prosecutors said in court on Sunday.

Karla Espinal, 26, who was ordered retained without bail, supposedly made the shocking claim after the police found little Madelyn Tavarez submerged with blood clots in the eyes in the house of Highland Park of the family Friday, according to the police.

According to judicial records, Madelyn’s relative described the horrible scene.

“(Police) was informed by (the relative) who, at the previous moment and place, the defendant immersed Madelyn Tavarez under water in a bathtub, and that Madelyn Tavarez was not moving”, a criminal complaint filed by the Brooklyn office given.

“The declarant declares that the defendant declared, in sum and substance,” I was baptizing my daughter. “

Espinal is now under psychiatric evaluation and with suicidal surveillance, prosecutors said.

The girl, who according to Fuentes, was probably under water for 20 minutes, was urgently taken to the Medical Center of the University of Brookdale, where she was declared dead.

Madelyn’s father, Jorge Tavarez, told police that his little daughter was alive and well an hour before.

Espinal, who carried a surgical mask in the Court, was prosecuted by second degree assault, reckless danger and endangering the well -being of a child charges.

Prosecutors said they are waiting for the results of an autopsy, which will determine whether Espinal could face additional charges in the tragic incident.

The neighbors told The Post on Saturday that they were shocked by Espinal’s arrest, and said she and her daughter always seemed to be part of a happy family.

The relatives declined to comment on the court on Sunday.
