The anguished 911 call leads to the bust of trafficking with people, undocumented immigrants arrested

A desperate called 9-1-1 of a woman who said that she was taken to the agents led by captivity with the Sheriff’s office of Palm Beach County (Pbso) to a brothel that operates from a small apartment in Lake Worth Beach.

The investigation resulted in the arrests of two Guatemalan nationals, the Yudvin brothers and Glin Zuniga Latin, in positions, including human trafficking and sexual assault.

According to an affidavit of arrest, there could be a person involved, but when the agents arrived in the apartment they escaped.

The authorities say that the women were brought to Palm Beach County under false claims and promised legitimate works, but instead they were forced to work sexual at the tip of the gun.

“This is another crime that did not have to happen, because they should never have been here,” said Palm Beach County Sheriff, Ric Bradshaw, during a press conference on Monday.

The 9-1-1 call that led to the rescue

The case took place around 7:45 am on Sunday when one of the victims managed to call 9-1-1. I didn’t know where I was, just that I had been trapped for days and needed help.

The deputies tracked the call to an apartment near Lake Worth Community High School and recognized the address as part of a largest and continuous brothel investigation.

Within an apartment in the block 1400 of Lake Avenue, they found two women in separate, terrified and unable to communicate with each other. According to the researchers, they had been recruited under false claims and transported to Palm Beach County to work in the brothel.

“The victims were placed in separate rooms, they were not allowed to compromise with each other. The victims were threatened, and if they left and did not meet the demands, quotes, they knew what was going to happen to them, “said Sergeant. Carlos Lisbon with the PBSO Special Research Division.

He added that women reported that firearms remained inside the residence at all times.

It is not the first time that one of these suspects was arrested

The authorities say that this is not the first time that at least one of the brothers has been accused of operating a brothel.

In 2023, CBS12 News reported That Latin Zuniga glin and his mother were arrested for executing a brothel just blocks from the last scene of the crime. That time, he was released.

This time, he and his brother Yudvin were arrested there and placed under ice arrest. A third suspect is still fleeing.

Sheriff Bradshaw emphasized that his agency focuses on eliminating criminals in the country illegally.

“This is not mass immigration, friends. This is specific immigration and deportation. We are pointing to bad people, ”said Bradshaw.

He also closed concerns about general immigration repressions.

“No one is going to play neighborhood doors and say: ‘show us your papers.’ No one goes to school to drag children. Nobody goes to places where people are working. We are behind bad guys. It’s that simple “Bradshaw said.

A major problem in Palm Beach County

The authorities recognize that this brothel is only one of the many who have been operating in suburban neighborhoods throughout Palm Beach County.

CBS12 news I-Team has reported widely in local criminal networks involved in human trafficking. In recent years, the sources have indicated a network, according to reports, a woman who passes through Brenda.

The CBS12 News reporter, Katie Bente, asked about arresting Brenda or knocksing on other competitors of brothel, the sergeant. Lisbon said those investigations are ongoing.

“You have to understand the size of these organizations. We can make a quick arrest and finish it for the day, or we can make a great arrest and finish it forever, ”said Lisbon.

Sheriff Bradshaw added that they are adopting a strategic approach to dismantle these operations.

“We can make surveillance in a place and see some activity, but then we want people to execute it. I prefer to look for the big fish, and that will stop the little fish, “Bradshaw said.

One way in which the Sheriff’s office plans to defend oneself is to take advantage of the properties where these crimes are being carried out.

“We will think about trusting these houses. If people in them are a danger to the community, we will consider removing the houses, ”said Bradshaw.

What follows?

Both Latin brothers of Zuniga remain behind bars, facing a list of serious charges, which include:

Yudvin has been accused of two positions of trafficking in persons, living outside the profits of a prostitute and using properties for prostitution.

Glin has been accused of two positions of human trafficking, sexual assault by a person over 18, living from the profits of a prostitute, using properties for prostitution, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer without violence.

PBSO added that both suspects are in the United States illegally from Guatemala, and ice stoppers have been placed on them.

The authorities urge anyone with information about alleged trafficking operations to inform the Sheriff’s office of Palm Beach County.
