Prosecutors say the doctor killed 10 patients, then put fires to cover their traces

It is suspected that a doctor in Germany kills 10 patients with a mixture of lethal drugs and tries to cover up at least five of the murders starting fires, the researchers said.

In August, the 40 -year -old Berlin doctor was arrested and accused of involuntary homicide for allegedly killing four patients, all of which were older women between the ages of 72 and 94 Associated Press, ABC News and NBC news report. After he allegedly killed them, he set fire to his homes, police said at that time, DW.com information. The police could turn off some of the fires, authorities said.

In November, the authorities in Berlin said they found evidence that led them to believe that the doctor, who worked in the palliative care team of a nursing service, killed four more patients, according to the AP.

Now, researchers say they believe he is allegedly killing two additional patients, raising the total number of victims to 10.

On Tuesday, the authorities said they believe the doctor allegedly killed a 25 -year -old woman and then a 57 -year -old woman, both in her Berlin apartments.

In a joint statement, prosecutors and the police claimed that the doctor’s only reason was to kill patients and that suspect’s actions meet the legal definition of “lust for murder,” AP reports.

The first alleged case came to light on June 11, 2024, when firefighters were called to turn off a fire in the house of an 87 -year -old woman, who then died at the hospital, reports DW.com.

The researchers allegedly found evidence that the doctor killed a 76 -year -old woman on June 8, 2024, whose house was burned by the doctor, reports DW.com.

“When he realized this, he allegedly informed a relative of the woman and said he was standing in front of his department and that no one was responding to his bell,” said the police, DW.com reports.

Supposedly he killed a 72 -year -old man a 94 -year -old in the weeks that followed, DW.com reports.
