At least 20 injured after the car leads to the crowd in Munich – DW – 02/13/2025

Munich Police said Thursday afternoon that there was no public danger after a car led to a group of people earlier in the day in the state of Bavaria in southern Bavaria of the capital city of Germany, and the Firefighters added that at least 20 people were injured in the incident.

The driver was immediately arrested at the scene, said Munich Police, and then said he was a 24 -year -old national Afghan asylum seeker.

“The driver of the vehicle was insured in the spot; currently it represents more danger,” police said.

A police spokesman also said that initially it is not clear how seriously the people were injured and if the accident was an accident or a deliberate act.

What else do we know about Munich’s car incident so far?

The BR24 station said the group consisted of people who carried out a symbolic strike of the Verdi union.

He also cited face -to -face witnesses saying that two men had been in the car, and one of them was shot by the police and carried. The police asked the public to abstain speculation, he said.

The news magazine Focus saying Some of the 20 injured were critical, and the police said two people were seriously injured.

The mayor of the city, Dieter Reiter, said he was “deeply shocked” for what had happened and that the children were among the injured.

The incident occurred only one day before high -ranking politicians around the world meet in the city for the prestigious Munich Security Conference, which will take place in a place about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) of the accident site .
