The thieves who stole Woman, 81, in Newcastle Cash Machine imprisoned

Spirache, from Fulham Street, approached and said it was his money, since he had used the machine shortly before, but had not worked, according to the court.

The victim had just given the money when Vasile, from Eric Street, approached and said that she was actually his, with him and then went with the notes.

The woman entered the bank to consult what had happened and told her that the money had left her account, according to the court.

In a statement, he said that he had felt “silly and stupid” and that he had no longer used cash machines outside the bank buildings.

Both thieves had multiple crimes of dishonesty in their criminal record and Spirache had been repeatedly trapped when illegally entering the United Kingdom after receiving a deportation notice in 2019 after a prison, according to the court.

He also had international criminal records, which included the imprisonment of theft in Germany, according to the court.

The Simon Goldberg KC registrar said it was a “rarity” that the theft method would not have determined, but that it was clearly “sophisticated” and planned.

He said the two thieves attacked the “vulnerable” woman.
