He stars alongside Drew Starkey, 31, in the new Luca Guadagnino, queer movie, based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name as William Burroughs.

The romantic drama of the period, set in Mexico City of the 1950s, follows the American veteran of expatriates and war William Lee (played by Craig), who has a romance with a younger man, Eugene Alerton (Starkey), A drug addict and duty of the Marine.

For the prestigious prize of the screen actors guild, he faces Adrien Brody’s competition for the brutalist, Timothee Chalamet for a complete stranger, Colman’s Sunday for Sing and Ralph Fiennes for the conclave.

Last year, Daniel admitted that he could never have assumed his role in Luca’s stranger if he still portrayed 007.

The actor starred in five Bond films between 2006 and 2021, and Daniel admitted that the films that revolve the money gave him a physical and emotional cost.

But reflecting on his bail days, he told him The Sunday Times : ‘I couldn’t have done this (queer) while doing Bond. It would seem reactionary, as if I was showing my range.

‘At first with Bond, I thought I had to do another job, but I didn’t. I was becoming a star, whatever that means, and people loved me in their films. Incredible.

‘Most of the actors are out of work for large pieces, so he takes their job offers, but they left me empty. Then, in result, they paid me.
