Delta flight forced to evacuate as ‘cabin full of smoke’ | World | News

A flight from Delta Air Lines was forced to evacuate passengers and crew after the smoke filled the cabin shortly after takeoff.

The internal flight of the United States Boeing 717-200 had to travel to Columbia Metropolitan Airport, South Carolina, from Atlanta, Georgia, when the terrifying event occurred.

The terrifying images filmed inside the cabin show visibility to almost zero, since the thick smoke fills the passenger compartment on Delta’s 876 flight.

ABC7 News reports that the commercial airline has 94 passengers on board, as well as two pilots and three hostesses. It is understood that the plane returned safely and landed in Atlanta, according to Delta and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (FAA).

A Delta spokesman told us to the media: “Nothing is more important than the safety of our clients and people, and we apologize to our clients for the experience.”

The spokesman added that a “fog inside the plane was observed”, and a FAA spokesman said that “the crew reported a possible smoke on the flight deck.”

An FAA investigation has been launched.
