Emerson Hancock, Dan Wilson talk about the management of a really difficult role for Seattle Marin

Peoria, Arizona. – The head launcher of the Seattle sailors, Emerson Hancock, is in a difficult place.

A former first round of the sailors (No. 6 in 2020), has a pedigree of prospects and a true set of skills.

What it does not have is an opportunity, at least one consistent. Hancock made 12 admirable beginnings for sailors in 2024, going 4-4 with an effectiveness of 4.75. It was completed for an injured Bryan Woo at the beginning of the year and an injured Luis Castillo at the end.

Unfortunately, for Hancock to have the constant opportunity he undoubtedly wants, someone above him has to fail or injure.

Speaking after its beginning of spring training on Sunday against the Diamondbacks of Arizona, we asked Hancock how he balances his desire for a constant opportunity to be a good teammate and support those around him.

I mean, it is easy to be a good teammate here, to be honest. We have great people. It is fun to be part of this group, but also, you are just trying to take it one day at the same time. I know there are things I need to improve. There are always things that I can improve. And if you only work on that, what can I do today? What can I do tomorrow? What do I need to make in my next beginning? So, hopefully, you will get where you want to be.

Hancock allowed a race for M in 1.2 entries, renouncing three hits while strucking two. The sailors beat the diamondbacks

Speaking several hours before Hancock took the mound, the manager Dan Wilson approached how he handles a difficult role.

This is a difficult place, and I think EM has done a very good job when driving it and taking it one day per day. And at the end of the year (2024), with the rock (Luis Castillo) having the lesion in the hamstrings, he really appeared, thought, and threw the ball very, very good in a couple of really key games for us and had to face the same team twice. He made some excellent adjustments. Then, I thought he handled it not only well in the mound, but also mentally. And, it is a difficult role, but hugged him and did a great job with him.

He Sailors He will return in the field on Monday with a road game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The first release is set for 12:10 PM PT since Logan Gilbert takes the mound.
