Wicklow Community Tambreing after the tragic death of the promising sports star

The sports communities in Wicklow are staggering after the premature death of a ‘beloved teammate and friend’, during the weekend.

Brendan Stone died on Friday. The 19 -year -old is the younger brother of the high -level county player, Malachy Stone.

The young athlete was “part of the latest generation” of his family with the blue and white of Barndarrig and was a member of the Wicklow U20 football team.

‘An infectious passion’

Bandarrig Gaa led tributes after the devastating death of the young man who said he was a “teammate and friend.”

“Brendan was an appreciated member of our club, a dedicated athlete and an integral part of our community,” said the club, “his talent, spirit and kindness touched all those who had the privilege of knowing them.

‘Brendan had an infectious passion for sport and was known for his courage, physicality and determination. Either inside or outside the field, Brendan brought us joy, laughs and inspiration to all.

The club added that Brendan Sibles represented BARDARRIG GAA and would have been proud to appear in the first senior football championship team with his brother Malachy.

Bandarrig Gaa concluded extending his condolences to the Stone family.

‘Deep Shock’

As well as GaaBrendan passionate about rugby with Wicklow RFC confirming the death of their teammates “with deep shock and sadness.”

They said: ‘Brendan has played rugby In Wicklow RFC since I was six years old and was a proud member of the first Wicklow Sub 20 team.

‘Brendan was a young bright rugby player and an intrepid competitor. He played the rugby game with skill, balance, speed and ferocity, but always with a smile on his face. He was a lovely, friendly and friendly young man with a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile ‘;

In 2024, Brendan won the player of the player of the year with his club saying that it was an “indication of his popularity in the team.”

Death Note

Brendan survives his worshipers parents Peter and Patsy and loving brothers Aoibhín, Malachy, Róisín, Moira, Fainche and Diarmuid.

His death warning says: “It is with Broken Hearts, the Stone family, announces the tragic death of his beautiful son and brother, Brendan, in his year 19, on Friday, February 21, 2025.”

The funeral arrangements for the young athlete will be released ‘later’.
