CCTV shows Nye to the crowd that goes up from the packed spring in the container

Exclusive: Images of passengers that go up from a packed Sydney Wharf in a ferry on the eve of the New Year, with the Maritime Union claiming that the dangerous trick was caused by personnel problems.

The video, obtained by 9News, shows a man by jumping from the Balmain East Wharf to an coupling ferry before a group of others follow his example.

Meanwhile, you can see the Deckhand fighting to take the ramp to the dock.

Balmain was busier on January 31 than in previous years, since he offered a front row seat for the first fireworks show on the western side of the Puerto del Puerto de Sydney.

It is estimated that 30,000 people used the ferries on the eve of the New Year, but the Secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia, Paul Garrett, said the lack of personnel and security led to unsafe conditions.

“The reduction of costs simply there are not enough resources, not enough planning, filled it when not thinking about the process,” Garrett said.

“It is wrong to put Ferry workers in this position, it is dangerous and is insecure.”

Transport for NSW Howard Collins’s general coordinator said they had anticipated larger crowds on the dock during the New Year.

“We anticipated the increase in numbers, what we really do not anticipate is that people are stupid … This was not the last ferry for nowhere, there were many others that night,” Collins said.

The incident has forced NSW transport to reassess staff and security measures in the area, specifically for special events.

“We are going to provide more security in that area, more support for Transdev staff and we are certainly reviewing the plans every year,” said Collins.

The union says that this was not an isolated event, and more things are needed in Ferry Whaves throughout the CDB.

“The New Year’s Eve needs more staff, but there are also other events, Vivid is an excellent example of overcrowding,” Garrett said.
