Alleged members of the Hamas Palestinian Group in trial in Germany

Four members of Hamas suspected of planning attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe were Tuesday, judged in Berlin, in what prosecutors described as the first judicial case against the militants of the Islamist group in Germany.

It was said that Hamas members were arrested at the end of 2023 under suspicion of planning attacks, German prosecutors said at that time.

The prosecutor, Jochen Weingarten, said, for the first time in Germany, the suspects face positions of having participated as members of the foreign terrorist organization, Hamas.

He added that the defendants were accused of trying to locate a secret deposit in Poland for possible attacks, while receiving orders from the attached commander of the Qassam brigades in Lebanon.

According to previous prosecutors, the defendants are also accused of operating other hills of arms in Europe.
