Man accused of violating a disabled woman in the Norwell Day program

A Brockton man is accused of rapeing a woman with disabilities of development in a Norwell day program last month, authorities announced.

Chidiebiere Fred Onyebiri, 39, was prosecuted last week by positions of rape, indecent assault and aggression to a person of 14 or more, and indecent assault and aggression to a person over 60 years/disabled, the office of the prosecutor of Plymouth County District said in a statement. Prosecutors claim that a 62 -year -old blind woman attended the adult day habilitation program, Road to Responsive, Inc., in Norwell on January 8 that she had been attacked by a staff member, later identified by the police as Onyebiri, when he helped her to the bathroom. It was taken to the South Shore hospital where it was evaluated.

The Norwell police contacted the disabled persons protection commission the next day when an investigation into the accusation began. During the course of the investigation, the police learned that Onyebiri was assigned the victim’s attention on the day of the alleged violation, said the prosecutor’s office.

“As a result of the investigation, Norwell’s police developed a probable cause to arrest and accuse Onyebiri, and was arrested,” prosecutors said in a statement.

According to a statement of events presented by the Police before the Court, Onyebiri was an employee of a personnel company who worked with Norwell’s facilities when they needed personnel.

Onyebiri was arrested on February 19. His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

It is scheduled to return to the Court on March 18.
