China Dubs United States Rates ‘Cold War Mentality’, he says he could seriously affect conversations

Beijing said Trump was using China to “change the fault” for the country’s fentanyl problem. In addition, they warned that such retaliation tariffs could “seriously impact dialogue” between the two countries and equivalent to “blackmail.”

The China Ministry of Commerce declared that although it would like to hold bilateral conversations, it would also take the necessary countermeasures to tariffs if they are forced to do so.

“If the United States insists on proceeding with this course of action, China will take all the necessary countermeasures to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests,” said the ministry.

China’s Givkal Dragonomics Research Deputy Director told Reuters: “There has been much motion, but it is not yet clear exactly what is the fundamental objective of the Trump administration with respect to China.”

While Donald Trump has threatened high tariffs against China since he assumed the position of his second term as president of the United States, in the first conversations with Chinese Prime Minister Xi Jinping, he said they had a “friendly” conversation and had discussed the problem of fentanyl drugs, as well as other fair trade practices.
