Mahila College Grapple with Crunch Space | Patna News

Patna: Mahila CollegeKhagaul, a prominent constituent unit of University of Patliputra (PPU), is dealing with a severe space crunch since the registration of its students reached the amazing 4,000 in Degree Level Courses In all arts, science and commerce.
The school, which has been providing women’s education in the region, is now struggling to accommodate the growing number of students due to the lack of adequate infrastructure.
Talking to this newspaper here on Friday, the director Usha Vidyarthi said that the university’s authority has expressed concerns about the growing pressure on existing facilities, which were not designed to support such a large amount of students. “With limited classrooms, administrative spaces and other essential facilities, the university cannot meet the academic and infrastructural needs of its expanding student base,” he said, added that the university has been working in a bedroom building leased by the railroads since its inception in a town of rail colonies in Khagaul.
In the light of this crisis, the university administration recently appealed to Prime Minister Nithis Kumar to intervene and assign vacant lands near the Khagaul channel to the university for its academic expansion. The university authorities have also urged the state government to take immediate measures to address the shortage of space and ensure that the growing number of students can access quality education in a conducive environment, said the director.
The demand for additional lands comes at a time when the importance of women’s education is increasingly emphasized and Khagaul Mahila College has become an important institution to empower young women in the region. The University is confident that with the proper support of infrastructure, it can continue to provide excellent academic opportunities and meet the growing demand for higher education among women in the state, he said.
Vidyarthi said that the university is teaching, a degree in librarian and degree in computer applications (BCA) in self -financed mode.
In addition, the University has asked the PPU union body to grant permission to begin postgraduate education (PG) in Hogar Sciences, Political Science, History and Psychology to meet the needs of girls, he said, and added that each department has two regular teachers, while the University has subcontracted to the teachers of the Faculty in the currents of science.
