Key West prosecutors announced Thursday that a Grand Jury had accused Michael Demerjian and Mibsam Azael Barrios Jiménez for the capital’s batteries.

The state prosecutor of the County of Monroe, Dennis Ward, and the state prosecutor Joseph Mansfield, announced that the state prosecutor Colleen Dunne will aggressively process the case.

“The nature of these charges is deeply disturbing,” Mansfield said.

The records show that the investigators met with the child who had moved to Walton County. According to the accusation, Barrios Jiménez, 21, of Key Largo, sexually abused the victim around October 10.

Demerjian, 36, of Big Pine Key, supposedly sexually abused the child several times between June and July. He was arrested after being accused of abusing another child.

In November, the agents arrested Demerjian while driving drunk with a 3 -year -old boy in the car, according to the records. The deputies reported having found Clonazepam, Gabapentin and a glass pipe with methamphetamine in the car.

In January, a person who bought a used car from Demerjian told the deputies of the Monroe County Sheriff’s office that there was a cell phone in the car that had dozens of images of him sexually abusing a child, according to the records.

The researchers asked anyone with information about an exploited child to call The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to 1-800-843-5678.
