State anti -drug operation launched in Punjab, Cops Raid 750 locations


Chandigarh:

The Punjab police launched a state operation against drugs, making raids in more than 750 locations such as the Cabinet subcommittee in the drug threat held its first meeting on Saturday, authorities said.

Around 12,000 police personnel participated in the operation that was carried out as part of an anti -drug campaign.

The cabinet minister, Aman Arora, appealed on Saturday to all political parties that, instead of playing politics, should extend their support for the state government’s anti -drug campaign to save Punjab.

The Chief Secretary Kap Sinha and the Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav also attended the Cabinet Subcommittee.

Police said that a massive cord operation and cordon search (case) at the critical points of identified drugs, the points of sale of drugs and psychotropic substances, led to the arrest of 290 drug smuggers after the registration of 232 FIRS.

The General Director of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that the four -hour operation also led to the recovery of 8.14 kg of heroin, 1.21 kg of opium, 3.5 kg Ganja, 19 kg of poppy shell, 700 grams, 16,238 intoxicating tablets, injections and effective of 8.02 Lakh.

Police said police personnel cordoned off up to 369 critical drug points and made 798 raids in those areas.

The DGP said that the police have devised a comprehensive strategy and such operations will continue until the drug scourge is eradicated from the State.

Going to the media after the meeting earlier in the day, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Chema, who runs the cabinet subcommittee, said the first meeting of the campaign “Yudh Nashia Virudh” ​​was held to ensure strict action against street vendors and smugglers.

The members of the Cabinet Subcommittee have been assigned different districts to monitor police action against drug threat, he said.

Cheema said he will visit the districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar and Tarn Taran, while Arora will take care of Ludhiana, Patiala, Kapurthala, Mohali, Amritsar and Jalandhar.

Minister Taranpreet Singh Sond will visit Sangur, Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga and Malekotla and Laljit Singh Bhullar see Faridkot, Mukstar, Fazilka, Mansa and Ferozepur.

The Minister of Health, Balbir Singh, will supervise the drug disabling and disable program in the state.

Cheema appealed to the families of the drug addicts to admit their members addicted to drug disinfection facilities.

He said that this “decisive war” against drugs aims to break the drug supply line, which can cause health problems for addicts.

Speaking to journalists, Arora rolled out against previous governments for drug threat. “A 360 degree action is visible in the field,” Arora said, referring to the ongoing police action against drug sellers in many places in the state.

“Those who are drug addicts, the Department of Health will not treat them as criminals. They will be treated as patients and will be treated in hospitals,” said Arora.

He said it was not 100 percent possible to stop “drug rivers”, initiated by previous governments, without the support of the 3 million people from Punjab.

Arora said it was his promise to all political parties, religious bodies and social organizations that the Punjab, Kejriwal and Mann government uproot the “drug cancer of the State.”

“I want to urge them not to be a problem of a party or a government, but it is about saving Punjab, youth and future generations … I want to urge all political parties that must give their support on this problem (anti -drug campaign) instead of playing policies to save our next generation,” said Araora.

The state government has formed a committee, led by Finance Minister Cheema, to supervise the actions of the police and health departments to address the drug problem.
