Beau Christopher Benson, 36, saw and uploaded videos that represent child sexual abuse.

A Dorchester man who worked as an admissions advisor at Northeastern University has been sentenced to five years in prison for having child pornography.

Beau Christopher Benson, 36, was sentenced on Wednesday in a Federal Court of Boston for receiving child sexual abuse obtained through Zoom’s Chat Salas, announced the United States prosecutor’s office. Benson’s prayer will be followed by five years of supervised release.

Benson declared himself guilty in March 2024 of receiving child pornography after being accused in a criminal complaint in November 2023.

According to prosecutors, in April 2023, the investigators were propacts that Benson had participated in Zoom video chat rooms used to share and see illegal material. Benson recorded the content of the chat room and kept the footage. These recordings presented videos of sexual abuse, as well as conversations, Benson had with others about the content of the videos, according to the officials.

The researchers found 15 video files that show the material, which Benson had saved in his Dropbox account. Prosecutors say that Benson also uploaded two files that contain infrax sexual assault material to Dropbox. The victims seemed to be approximately 2 to 4 years.

According to the United States prosecutor’s office, Benson’s case was presented as part of Safe Childhood ProjectA national initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program brings together federal, state and local resources to track, arrest and prosecute those who exploit children. It also aims to identify and rescue children’s victims of sexual crimes.
