Danny Welbeck was a friend and an enemy of Gerrard over the years and remembers a burning encounter

On Steven Gerrard Once Danny Welbeck is beaten with an elbow, before telling his teammate “Leave it, it’s a Manc.”

That is according to the same Brighton striker who recalled a burning encounter with the Liverpool Hero at the beginning of his career. Gerrard was known for his combative style in the field and rarely moved away from a fight, in the ball or outside him. And Welbeck discovered it in unequivocal terms while I was in Sunderland in the 2010/11 season.

The striker was cutting his loan teeth Manchester Unitedto whom he later returned and became a hero of cult before starring ArsenalWatford and now Brighton. And it was during an early trip to Anfield who had a pointed encounter with a man who would later play for England.

Sky Sports asked the 34 -year -old person to choose between Gerrard and Frank Lampard. But he ended up giving him the chelsea hero, due to that encounter with Gerrard. He said: “It is very difficult (choose). When growing, I have to see them every weekend, and I saw them both week after week and years.

“Stevie G, I don’t know if he really remembers this, he will probably do it. Once, he was borrowed in Sunderland, we went to Anfield and gave me an elbow right to the other side of the head. Lee Cattermole left and asked ‘What is it about?’ He (Gerrard) said: ‘Leave it, it’s a Munc’.
