The man seriously burned after the fireworks explode inside the Lewiston apartment

Lewiston – A local man suffered burns and possible other injuries on Monday after detaching the fireworks inside an apartment on Horton Street.

The victim, who was not identified on Monday night, was placed in a rescue basket and went down from the third floor by a cable attached to a ladder truck. His condition was not available later on Monday night, although his wounds were described as serious.

The fire teams were called 69 Horton St. around 4:30 pm for a fire report in an apartment on the third floor, with smoke from a bedroom window.

When the first crews arrived, they found a burning mattress and quickly sprayed the remaining flames. The mattress was abandoned through a window.

They also found the victim of burns that was dropped to the ground where the paramedics waited and then taken to a hospital.

The witnesses said that the victim had suffered visible burns on the face and that it seemed that he was having problems with his throat. It was said that the man was 39 years old.

It was not known what type of fireworks began the fire. Police said it seemed that the device exploded very close to the victim inside the apartment.

The apartment is in a section on Horton Street between Pine and Ash streets.

Lewiston’s firefighters requested assistance from the State Marshals State Office. The matter remained under investigation on Monday night.
