Dutchman jailed 10 years for sexual abuse of minors

A Dutch citizen who was convicted of exposing minors to pornographic videos has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A Magistrates Court of Milimani also ordered Jan in’t Veld aka, aka, aka Mzungu, who pays a compensation of SH1 million in each of the three victims.

At the end of his jail mandate, the convict will be deported to the Netherlands, the court ordered.

The prayer was pronounced by Judge Joyce Macharia. The 74 -year -old Dutch citizen was sentenced with 10 positions ranging from child abuse to obscene videos.

He was arrested in December 2023 in Jkia while trying to flee the country. During the trial, digital forensic experts presented evidence of explicit WhatsApp conversations between the defendant and a 17 -year -old boy, where he encouraged the child to participate in sexual activities.

The Prosecutor’s Office also presented graphic images and videos recovered from the convict phone, representing child sexual abuse. While testifying in his defense, Jan denied irregularities, arguing that Kenya’s legal age for sexual consent was unreasonably high.

He also tried to justify his actions using biblical references, a movement that was very criticized by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges showed that Jan was intentionally, illegally and indecent the genitals of male minors between April 2022 and June 2022 within Turbo Subcount in Uasin Gishu County.

He was also accused of child abuse where the Prosecutor’s Office said that obscene images of children under 10 and seven years for sexual gratification illegally.
