Of winter storm ice cream and strong winds

Marquette, Mich. (Wluc) –

A complex system of slow motion storms will result in wet conditions/frosts and dangerous trips tomorrow. The first part of this system is to bring a rain round this morning. It is combined with temperatures close to freezing, which could cause frozen surfaces. This is the reason why a first alert meteorological day remains in force until 10 am for this afternoon, temperatures increase above freezing, and showers continue in the eastern half. The main low pressure system rises from the central plains tonight. Therefore, we will begin to have a transition to wet snow at western night.

A second first alert will begin at 7 pm tonight until 1 in the morning on Thursday while a winter storm supports. Wet and heavy snow is generalized tonight, causing careless roads tomorrow morning. Then, snow goes to drier consistencies as temperatures decrease at 20 during the day. It will remain generalized until tomorrow night. We expect dangerous road conditions as the winds strengthen. Northeast winds will have speeds of 20-25 and bursts will increase 35-45+mph. Snoveing snow will cause little visibility and white outputs near the upper lake.

The snowfall will be heavy with high accumulations. To begin, the lowest snowfall will occur in the south of the East already along the Michigan Lake with a range of 1-3 ″. There will be a range of 8-12 ″ snow for the rest of the UP, however, the UP of the Western and North Central will have greater quantities. The Western Up will increase 12-15 ″ with 15-18 ″ in parts of Gogebic, Ontonagon, Houghton and Keweenaw counties. The amounts of higher snowfall will increase by 20-24 ″ in the highest elevations of the Baraga and Western Marquette counties. The city of Marquette will have a range of 12-15 ″ snow. If the track of this system changes, we could end amounts of lower snowfall.
