The trial against the pediatric surgeon Peter Beale will be sent to HPCSA for greater consideration

Johannesburg – Judgment against the Pediatric Surgeon Peter Beale will be sent to the Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for additional consideration.

Beale, who was arrested in 2019 and accused of the death of three minor patients, and two fraud charges were declared innocent in the Superior Court of Joburg on Tuesday afternoon.

He was stripped of his HPCSA permission in 2022, but can still be reinstated with a permission if he chose to continue practicing.

The professor of the pediatric surgeon Peter Beale barely shuddered when Judge Thifhelimbilu (TI-FE-LIM-BILU) Mudau issued a trial in the Superior Court of Joburg, finding it not guilty of three murder charges and two fraud charges.

Beale was accused of the murder of three of her minor patients she operated in 2012, 2016 and 2019, respectively.

All children died shortly after surgery.

Despite the South Africa Health Profession Council stripping Beale from her operation license in 2022, Judge Mudau says they will need to study her judgment regarding one of her victims where Beale admitted to having left the child’s care, despite knowing that she was fighting for her life.

“This sentence must be sent to the HPCSA for consideration, in the event that the defendant considers to follow his practice.”

Mudau previously ruled that the names of Beale’s victims should not be advertised to protect families.
