Columbia man accused of alleged inappropriate sexual behavior in local stores

Boone County prosecutors presented charges for minor crimes against a Columbia man accused of two cases of inappropriate sexual behavior.

The Columbia Police Department declared in a press release issued on Monday that they arrested Michael Shields, 45.

He was accused of following women around two separate stores while masturbating.

The department said the first incident occurred on December 11, 2024 in the 3600 block of Rangeline Street. The second occurred on February 28, 2025 in North Providence Road’s block.

On February 10, 2025, prosecutors accused him of a first degree inappropriate sexual behavior position, first crime, for the December incident.

On Monday, March 3, prosecutors accused him of sexual behavior in the first degree, second or subsequent crime, for the February incident.

Sheilds was arrested in the Boone County prison without bail.
