Pawan Kalyan breaks silence after Allu Arjun’s arrest in stampede death case

A 35-year-old woman was killed in the stampede and her eight-year-old son was seriously injured on Dec. 4 at RTC Crossroads as they went to see the movie.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Monday that the makers of Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, should have earlier contacted the family of the woman, who died in a recent stampede at a Hyderabad theatre.

A 35-year-old woman was killed in the stampede and her eight-year-old son was seriously injured on Dec. 4 at RTC Crossroads as they went to see the movie. Addressing reporters, the Deputy Chief Minister said that a gesture like this could have prevented the situation from going out of control and “the mountain would have been made of a molehill”.

“What they (the filmmakers) could have done is go to the victim’s house the next day. The producers, the director or anyone on the crew should have expressed their condolences and shown that they are with the family in their grief. Yes If they had done this, it would not have escalated like this,” Kalyan said.

After the incident, Arjun was briefly arrested by the Hyderabad police and a huge controversy ensued. Calling the death of the 35-year-old woman and the hospitalization of her son “a very painful episode”, the founder of Janasena stated that the deceased and her family wanted to spend a pleasant evening, return home and share the experience. but it ended tragically.

While some were of the view that the Telangana government could have handled the matter more gently, Kalyan pointed out that the law “does not give preferential treatment to anyone, not even him”.
