Former Texas receiver Johntay Cook attacks Quinn Ewers over $6M NIL offer

Former Texas receiver Johntay Cook doesn’t seem to like his former quarterback Quinn Ewers.

“Wasting your money (really),” Cook allegedly wrote in what appears to be a since-deleted tweet. captured on Tuesday by On3.

Cook disappointed in two years for Texas, totaling 273 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He had eight receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns this season.

He spent most of his time with the Longhorns catching passes from Arch Manning as a backup wide receiver for an offense loaded with playmakers.

The now Washington receiver also retweeted a post on X that said “6 million for any qb in college is a waste of money.”

He appeared to try to walk back his comments later when responding to a post that mentioned Ewers going to the NFL despite the reported massive offer.

“My central point” Cook tweeted with an emoji.

Ewers has seen his draft stock plummet in 2024, as he was once expected to be a first-round pick in the NFL draft, but is no longer considered among the top quarterbacks in the class.

With another school’s reported $6 million offer, he may now be able to return to college as boosters drop massive checks to keep kids in school.
