Timothée Chalamet studied music and is preparing to become Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown’

LOS ANGELES — He’s one of music’s most prolific singer-songwriters, and now Bob Dylan’s origin story is in a theater near you.

Timothée Chalamet delivers a career-defining performance as the iconic folk singer in “A Complete Unknown.”

The film unfolds over a four-year period, from the moment Bob Dylan arrived in New York’s West Village with his guitar and groundbreaking talent to his rise to fame and the controversial election that resonated culturally throughout the world.

“The preparation didn’t feel like preparation. It was like a process of osmosis that lasted for years and now I’m terrified of even saying goodbye,” Chalamet said.

“What attracted me to this movie from the beginning was this question of genius, how it contaminates and changes your relationships with everyone you love, hate or know,” said director, writer and producer James Mangold.

“A Complete Unknown” also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz and Scoot McNairy.

In this behind-the-scenes look at the film, the stars and filmmakers talk about the music, the period and what made Dylan a legend and how they brought this story to life on screen.
