Eleowyn storm: man rescued from water near the Humber River

A member of the Hull Coast Guard rescue team threw a rope to the victim and brought it closer to the coast, said Humber Rescue, and the fire teams took him out of the water.

Ian Bennett, helmsman during the call, said: “The conditions were some of the hardest we have seen.

“Our training and teamwork assured that we could quickly reach the victim; it is a relief to know that they are now in good hands.”

Dave Roberts, president of Humber Rescue, said: “Even in the midst of a powerful storm, they responded without hesitation to save a life.

“His courage and ability in such extreme conditions is nothing less than remarkable.”
