Delhi Water Supply, says Atishi after claiming Haryana poisoned Yamuna

New Delhi:

A day after accusing Haryana to mix poison in the Yamuna River that supplies water to Delhi, the AAP government has doubled its position and has approached the problem with the electoral commission. Delhi’s prime minister, Atishi said this morning that water is no longer treatable and sought the intervention of the electoral body.

“Ammonia levels continue to be 6 times above normal in the waters of Yamuna, at the time it is entering Delhi from Haryana. Such levels are extremely toxic to the human body. This water cannot be treated and supplied To the people of Delhi.

Haryana had denied the positions of the AAP and threatened them with a defamation case.

Atishi said in his letter that the water treatment plants belonging to the Delhi Jal Board can treat the ammonia up to 1 ppm level, but the ammonia levels in the water that come from Haryana to Delhi are 700% above the limit tractable. This has reduced water supply in the city by 15-20%, he said, warning that high levels of ammonia in drinking water can lead to a public health crisis and cause kidney damage.

The prime minister had alleged yesterday that the BJP appealed to such a drastic step for fear of losing the next elections. “In Hinduism, there is no larger sin than to stop water. The people of Delhi will respond to BJP for this sin on February 5,” he said.

Arvind Kejriwal, the head of AAP, added that the BJP wants to keep the people of Delhi thirsty for his “dirty policy”, and nothing could be more unpleasant than this.

“The poison that is mixed in water and sent cannot even be cleaned at the water treatment plant. For the safety of the people of Delhi, the water supply must stop in many areas,” said the head of AAP who has promised to return as prime minister if his party wins the elections of February 5.

By going back in the positions, Haryana’s Prime Minister Nayab Singh Saini has demanded that Kejriwal apologize or demand it. “For these blatant and disgusting statements, Kejriwal should apologize immediately with the people of Haryana and Delhi for this statement, otherwise, we will file a demand for defamation against him,” Ani told the Ani news agency.

Speaking to NDTV today, Haryana Minister Mahipal Dhanda, described him as an “without foundation.” It is an “objectable and dangerous statement full of agenda” by the head of AAP, he said, adding that the sorry will not serve.

The Congress also accused Mr. Kejriwal of lying with the party candidate, Sandeep Dikshit, saying that he is surprised that the Haryana Police did not take measures against him.
