Victor Wembanyama statement after De’aaron Fox’s debut

Playing with his new teammate for the first time of the season, Victor Wembanyama could not help enjoying what De’aaron Fox brought to a list of Young Spurs.

“It’s a surprise for anyone,” he said. “We are all in favor. We all enjoy it. It puts us a lot on the table.”

Fox made history during the 126-125 victory of the Spurs, notches 24 points, 13 assists and three robberies as the only spur to record at least 20 points and 10 assists in a debut. Wembanyama, fighting against the disease, coincided, although the splinters of his ailment looked through their game.

An opportunity to drive near the end of the game led Fox to call his new teammate, encouraging him not kicking the ball and taking it himself. Wembanyama appreciated that.

“Maybe he doesn’t know, but he goes both ways,” said Wembanyama. “I haven’t had time to show it … it will be a healthy circle.”

After day 1 of the Wembanyama and Fox association, it is clear that things are looking for in San Antonio. A victory over the Hawks was a good place to start, but, as it usually goes with Wembanyama, not enough.

That is what follows.

“Surely brings an interesting perspective,” said the 21 -year -old. “I think our goals for this season are even more attainable. We have to use all our strengths. We have just added a great (one).”
