13 -year -old boy seriously injured after being hit by car in Tempe

Tempe, az (azfamily) – A teenager is in the hospital after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Tempe on Saturday.

The details are limited, but the Tempe police was called to an accident that involves a car and a cyclist nearby McClintock and Watson drivesJust north of Guadalupe Road, around 11 am

The Tempe Police says that an old man was driving in McClintock Drive when he ran the red light in Watson Drive and hit the 13 -year -old boy who crossed at the pedestrian crossing.

The teenager was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The police say that the car driver stayed at the scene. An investigation is underway.

The Tempe Police says that McClintock is closed from Southshore Drive to Julie Drive, between the base and Guadalupe roads. There is no estimated reopening time.
