Champions League: Celtic could face UEFA’s action on Israel Banner

Celtic could face another UEFA fine on a flag displayed by its fans during the play-off-off-off game of the Champions League against Bayern Munich.

The banner related to Israel was revealed by supporters in the half -time and remained in place during the majority of the second half.

The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of the European football governing body will evaluate the reports of the game and decide on its next steps.

UEFA will decide if the banner contained a political, provocative or offensive message.

Hundreds of Celtic fans held red sheets in the seats under where the banner was shown, which said ‘Show Israel the red card’.

Celtic avoided the prohibition of followers who attended the second leg in Munich next Tuesday despite receiving a previous disciplinary warning of UEFA after a smoke bomb was thrown into the field in Aston Villa in January.
