Disputes around the installation of safer human medicine primates continue. District prosecutor Joe Mulholland recently presented a motion to intervene in the current demand between Decatur County citizens and local government agencies. This is after having previously presented a separate motion to intervene in another demand between the Industrial Development Authority of Bainbridge-Decatur County and the safer human medicine on December 31 of last year. In the new motion, Mulholland argues that “the State seeks to intervene to argue and demonstrate in a conclusive way that the Open Meetings Law is a requirement of the Bond Validation Order.”

The motion also argues that Bond’s validation order, which the Court of Appeals had previously ruled SHM on SHM “,”Only validates the documents as they exist at the time the order is issued. ”

“In accordance with section 12.2 of the Project Agreement, as supposedly validated, it expired in its own terms on February 29, 2024,” continues the motion. “No action of the Federal District Court extended the deadlines in the project agreement because it requires the consent of the accused. And no action of the Federal District Court extended the deadline to issue the bonds because that is a reserved power for this court under the Law of Income Bonds. ”

Other arguments made by Mulholland include that the Industrial Development Authority “voted to withdraw its participation in the financing of the SHM installation before the bonds were issued”; Mulholland also disputed SHM’s argument that citizen demanding has made an “inadmissible attack” in the project bond validation order.

While the project remains in a state of legal limbo, local residents have not renounced their opposition, celebrating a meeting of the City Council last Thursday, called “Monkeygate Expo”. Citizens packed at the Joe Sweet Community Center to discuss the project and ask the questions of the panel gathered.

“The great participation encourages me to make a growing number of citizens in the community are activated and ask very relevant questions about not only SHM, but also the local government … all of which were invited to attend,” said Thom Dasilva, a resident , he said to The Post. -Reflector. “In addition to the two county commissioners who attended and apologized for the role they played, there were no other local officials. That says people a lot and let them ask several times: “Where are they and why are they not using their power to help components fight this atrocity?”

A Safer Human Medicine spokesman published this statement in response to recent developments: “”Safer Human Medicine is excited to collaborate with the Development Authority to advance this project. For the next ten years, our installation will create 400 new jobs and generate $ 743 million impressive for the community. We will ensure that this project benefits the local community, maintain the highest standards of environmental and animal welfare, and support vital medical research. ”

The statement continued, saying: “Support for this project is growing, and many Decatur County residents already express a strong interest in job opportunities. We hope to continue our commitment to those employment applicants and encourage people to visit our website (Saferhm.com) for more information about job opportunities with safer human medicine. We will update the website as our project develops. “
