Liverpool can handle the title tension: slot

London – Arne Slot insists that Liverpool can handle the growing pressure of the race for the title of the Premier League after the leaders were hindered by the nerves in their tense victory against the wolves.

The side of the Slot side goes to Aston Villa on Wednesday knowing that a victory would move them 10 points from the Arsenal in second place in his attempt to ensure an English title 20 in English.

But Liverpool, dynamically for much of the season, has been less safe in recent times and almost exploded a two-go advantage in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over humble wolves in Anfield.

The Reds had already suffered an expensive collapse in the Mersyside Derby draw only a few days before, when James Tarkowski from Everton obtained an equalizer of detention time.

Liverpool reserves also crashed through the FA Cup with a shameful loss of fourth round at the second Plymouth level recently, which caused fears of acute hunters begin to break as expectations increase.

The left side of the Reds, Andrew Robertson, admitted after the Wolves game that it was natural that the players were nervous as they approach the finish line.

But Slot pointed out Liverpool’s ability to grind several victories by a margin of a goal and this season as proof that they did not fall apart under pressure.

“It’s because we are at the end of the season, not for us but what people do of it,” Slot told reporters on Tuesday.

“We have won other games at home or outside a goal when I was also tight. I remember that Crystal Palace left when he was tight at the end.

“If this happens at the end of the season, you will talk about the nerves.

“Ensuring a victory in the Premier League, if we are winning 1-0, it will be a lot of defender and hard work.”

Arsenal has joined the concern in Anfield with an undefeated race of 15 games in the League since its last defeat on the upper flight in Newcastle on November 2.

Several of Liverpool players have career experience for the title after winning the Premier League in 2020 under the predecessor of Slot, Jurgen Klopp.

Slot has also successfully sailed the anxiety of the last weeks of the season in his Dutch campaign winner of the title with Feyenoord.

But the head of the Reds has feelings found on how useful those triumphs will be to help Liverpool this season.

“We incline the players a lot. They have to appear and bring the performance. We do not present a meeting on how to deal with the pressure, so it is not how it works,” he said.

“Help that are accustomed to playing great games with a lot of pressure, but do not make it too big. We should not value the experience too much.

“It is difficult to take experiences from that moment with Feyenoord, different players, different opponents, a different league.

“And those who won the league here in Corona Time (during the pandemic) without fans in the stadium, at one time they had 25 points up, so there was almost no pressure.”

Slot knows that Villa has the potential to add to the pressure on Liverpool, but he believes that his hard success against the wolves will keep them in good condition.

“They have a great domestic record. When you get the list of accessories, Villa Away, everyone knows that it is one of the toughest you can face. Very good manager, it always has a very good game plan,” he said.

“We do not play better on Sunday, but winning gives us a different sensation to the Everton game when we granted in the last second.

“He tells you that you have a team that fights until the end. These are the games you have to win if you want to achieve something.”

Slot will be without Cody Gakpo and Joe Gómez against Villa, and the latter faces a “number of weeks” after suffering an injury to the hamstrings.
