Case against Eldorado Park police accused of killing Chesnay Kepler postponed

Johannesburg – The case against an Eldorado Park police officer accused of killing his crime girlfriend was postponed to March.

Mandla Buthelezi is accused of killing the 22 -year -old Gauteng crime guard, Chesnay Keppler, after a domestic dispute on boxing day in 2024.

Police alleges that after the attack, the 42 -year -old man shot up in a failed suicide attempt and was hospitalized.

He made his first appearance in the Court in January.

It was expected to appear through a video link. However, an unexpected cut of energy left the court inaccessible, which resulted in a postponement on March 27.

Although the case has not yet reached the bond or the investigation stage, Keppler’s lawyer said Buthelezi would not request bail.

“There is no request for bond at this time. There are only some pending problems regarding the investigation.”

Meanwhile, Kepler’s father, Trevor Keppler, said he was disappointed that Buthezi appeared virtually.

“I am disappointed that I have to appear on a TV while my daughter is no longer.”
