  2. Last week, a fight broke out in a male basketball game between Kempsville High and Salem High. Arrests have been made in relation to this incident, which, according to Virginia Beach police, seriously left a 17 -year -old.

Police say that two 16 -year -old children were arrested and accused of illegal injuries on Tuesday. They did not clarify if the adolescents loaded are students. Kempsville High’s male basketball team lost two games after the incident: one against Salem High and another against Princess Anne the next night.

Last week in a statement, VBCPS said they will use the total scope of the code of conduct to discipline the students involved. Police say that the 17 -year -old wounded child was discharged from the hospital and recovered at home.

Kempsville High’s parents say they still feel safe despite the fight during the basketball game on February 17

  3. In a vote of 217-215, the United States Representatives Chamber successfully approved a budget plan of the Republican Party. Tuesday’s vote was a crucial moment for the Republican President of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, and the Trump administration in general.

The Republicans of the House of Representatives, with their very slight majority, clear a budget resolution that requires $ 4.5 billion in tax cuts and a reduction of $ 2 billion in federal expenditure during a decade. Although Republican deserters successfully canceled the initial vote, hoping to infuse the budget resolution with more right -wing economic policies, President Johnson managed to crush any internal division. The vote was not delayed for more than a couple of minutes.

Only a Republican congressman joined the Chamber Democrats in his usual dissident vote against the Republican Party. Republican legislators have effectively eliminated any effective challenge within their own party, the Trump agenda (Cabinet nominations, legislation) has faced very little turbulence of their own party so far. The budget resolution is now addressed to the Senate controlled by Republicans for approval.

We continue through: SITW tries again

  • The officials of the city of Virginia Beach have confirmed that the organizers of the festival “Something in The Water” communicated to ask about the organization of the event at the end of April.

However, during a recent meeting of the City Council, Mayor Bobby Dyer announced that the Council would maintain its previous decision not to issue a permit for the festival.

The decision follows a series of deadlines lost by the organizers of the festival.

Something in the water organizers asked about the possibility that the city would issue a permit to carry the Sitw festival at the head of the ocean from April 26 to 27. This conversation occurred after the city staff sent the non -compliance notice on January 24. The city staff told SITW that it is too late to properly plan and execute logistics and public security requirements for an event of this magnitude.

In the light of the Festival’s cancellation, the city has committed beach events to develop alternative entertainment options for the last weekend of April.
