Could Tropical Storm Patty develop in the Caribbean Sea after Halloween?

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has highlighted a new area to observe tropical development in the southwestern Caribbean Sea.

For now, chances of development are low over the next week, but the FOX Forecast Center believes those chances could increase as we head into the final month of the Atlantic hurricane season.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FINAL WEEKS OF THE 2024 ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON

A large area of low pressure It is expected to develop over the southwestern Caribbean Sea in the middle of this week. This would coincide with the return of the Central American tourwhich contributed to the creation of hurricanes. Helen and Miltonand more recently, tropical storm nadina.

“Some gradual development of this system is possible until the end of the week, when it begins to move north or northeast over the southwestern Caribbean Sea,” the NHC wrote in its latest forecast.

WHAT IS THE CENTRAL AMERICAN TOUR?

Most of the time, these storms are not a threat to the USbut occasionally, a late tropical system can emerge from the Caribbean and affect Florida or deal an indirect blow to the east coast.

The next storm to be named in the Atlantic basin, which includes the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, will be called Patty.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic basin, the tropics are expected to remain calm as we enter the final days of October and approach the start of November.
