BMTC: Road rage escalates: BMTC driver and conductor assaulted on Tannery Road | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: Driving a bus on city roads and navigating through heavy traffic is already a stressful task. To compound this misery, bus crews are also victims of road rage incidents. They suspect that the attackers were angry because the bus was blocking their way on the narrow road. The bus staff said the duo was drunk. According to the complaint filed by the driver, Gagan MV, 27, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m.
Gagan and driver Shivakumar work at depot 30. They were assigned to drive the bus on route number 290E/26, from Yelahanka to Shivajinagar. When the vehicle stopped at the Canara Bank bus stop on Tannery Road, the two individuals got off their scooter and boarded the bus. They began to abuse verbally and physically. assault Gagan. They twisted his hand and punched him in the face.
The conductor tried to intervene, but he was dragged outside and forced to stand in front of the bus. The attackers then proceeded to hit him in the face, neck and waist before escaping. The entire incident was recorded by the CCTV camera installed in the bus.
Line control staff on Tannery Road learned of the incident and took the driver and conductor to Bowring Hospital. Although neither of them suffered any bleeding injuries, the driver suffered a cut to his nose. They are both in treatment.
An MLC (Medico-Legal Case) summons was sent to the police. According to BMTC, CCTV footage of the vehicle is currently being examined to gather more information.
According to Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, the two were drunk and were angry because the driver honked at them when they did not give way to the bus. “A month ago, a man fired from a private company stabbed a driver for telling him not to get on the running board. Recently, a person hit the staff with a brick. I am going to write to the police commissioner to take action against those” Assaulting government personnel, including BMTC staff, and ensuring that they end up in jail. Only then will people learn a lesson. “I have directed the MD to personally go and meet the police commissioner and hand over my letter to him,” he said.
