16-year-old faces additional charges related to Germantown shooting in August

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland (DC News Now) — The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) said a 16-year-old boy faces additional charges in connection with a shooting that occurred in Germantown in August.

Police said Jaiden Ochieng, 16, of Clarksburg, who was previously charged with attempted first-degree murder by a shooting in march had been linked to another shooting in Germantown.

According to MCPD, the first shooting occurred on March 13. Police said Ochieng arrived at the 19300 block of Archdale Road around 3 p.m. in a Hyundai. That’s when he allegedly chased a 15-year-old boy moments after getting off the school bus and began shooting at him, police said.

The 15-year-old was not injured.

The second shooting occurred on August 8, in the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive.

Police said that during their investigation, detectives learned that Ochieng allegedly got out of a Honda Civic and began shooting at the victim, who was sitting on a park bench. The victim managed to flee the scene and was not injured.

Detectives learned that the Honda used in the shooting was reported stolen in Clarksburg, according to MCPD.

On September 6, Ochieng was arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred on Archdale Trail. Police said when officers stopped him, he allegedly threw a gun.

As the investigation unfolded, detectives used ballistic analysis which later confirmed the same gun was used in the shooting on Crystal Rock Drive. Police learned the gun had been lost in Prince George’s County.

On October 24, MCPD announced that Ochieng was facing additional charges for the August shooting. His charges include attempted first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft and multiple firearms offenses.

He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Prosecution Unit.

Police said Ochieng is being charged as an adult for the March and August shootings.
