An Alien: Romulus Sequel is currently in the works

After Alien: Romulus‘ blockbuster, it seems that a sequel is already in the works.

“We’re working on an idea for a sequel now,” 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell said in a recent interview (via THR). “We haven’t closed the deal with (Rómulo director) Fede (Álvarez) yet, but we are going to do it, and he has an idea that we are working on.”

Asbell even revealed some of the sequel’s possible plot points.

“The two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were the highlight of the movie,” Asbell said of Romulus’ main characters. “And so I always think about it like, ‘Wow, where do people want them to go now?’ “We know there will be aliens. We know there will be big horror scenes, but I fell in love with both of them and I want to see what their story is.”

Alien: Romulus grossed over $350.8 million worldwide on a budget of just $80 million, proving that the franchise still has serious earning power and that audiences are still craving to see the acid-blooded monstrosity. by Ridley Scott stalking his way onto the big screen. (Apparently they also want to watch it on their VCR, since the movie is getting a bigger audience.) VHS release in addition to being released on Blu-ray).

But a Romulus sequel isn’t the only creature movie audiences are looking forward to: Asbell says 20th Century Studios currently only has one. two Predator movies in the makingwhose launch is scheduled for 2025.

“There are two (Predator movies) coming out next year,” Asbell said. “One I can’t talk about yet, but the other is the live-action Predator movie with Elle Fanning that just finished (filming) in New Zealand. It will be released in theaters next year.”

When asked if a new Alien vs. Predator could be on the horizon, Asbell simply replied, “Probably.”

2024 has been a particularly good year for Alien fans, as shortly after the release of Alien: Romulus, it was announced that the iconic survival horror game Alien: Isolation is finally getting a sequel. Based on Asbell’s recent comments, it looks like the trend will continue as we get closer to 2025, and Predator fans will have a lot to look forward to, too.
