Sleep, eat, train, repeat – it’s the regimented cycle that governs the lives of WA AFL players for three-quarters of the year.

With both West Coast and Fremantle missing finals action in 2024, a host of local stars fled the state football bubble as early as September to travel home interstate, while others spread their wings much further away in search of adventure.

Young Eagles star Harley Reid has returned to his native Victoria, welcomed by his family and AFLW girlfriend Yasmin Duursma, after a successful start to his professional career as the top pick in the 2023 draft.

The 19-year-old even swapped his guernsey for a sky blue suit as an ambassador for Melbourne’s Caulfield Cup Carnival.

West Coast co-captain Oscar Allen swapped codes in Italy, where football is more of a religion than an obsession, disappearing into the Rossoneri crowd as he watched powerhouse club AC Milan in action.

While relaxing for the day in the picturesque Tuscan town of Cortona, the striker was given behind-the-scenes access to a late-night DJ set by Australian artist Fisher.
