Camden County man injured in officer-involved shooting after failing to comply with law enforcement orders

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A Camden County man was injured in an officer-involved shooting early Friday morning.

According Missouri State Highway PatrolAround 2:30 a.m., officers with the Camdenton Police Department and deputies with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Camdenton in response to a call that a person was dead in the home.

When police arrived at the scene, Matthew MacDonald, 28, emerged from the home with a rifle. Authorities attempted to negotiate with MacDonald and get him to drop the gun, but he refused.

A Camden County deputy then shot MacDonald. He was detained and received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital. No other injuries were reported.

According to the Highway Patrol, authorities confirmed that there was no body in the home as initially reported.

The investigation is ongoing by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Crime and Drug Enforcement Division.

MacDonald had been charged in an unrelated incident earlier this month with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Court documents show he also faces several charges in Illinois.
