Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers triumphed over Daniel Jones and the New York Giants on Monday night, winning by a score of 26-18.

After mixed reactions to the announcement that Wilson would be the starter in Week 7, replacing Justin Fields, fans fully accepted head coach Mike Tomlin’s decision, especially after Wilson’s impressive performance on Monday.

Led by Wilson’s performance, the Steelers improved to 6-2 on the season, while the Giants fell to 2-6, extending their losing streak to three consecutive games.

Wilson completed 20 of 28 passes for 278 yards, with one touchdown and one fumble. Wide receiver Calvin Austin III contributed three catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, Jones completed 24 of 38 passes for 264 yards, with one interception and one fumble.

According to Sports Illustrated Alberto Breerthose close to the Steelers organization believed that Tomlin’s decision to move away from Fields was not the right one.

“Most people in that building thought Justin Fields gave them the best chance to win. They probably still do,” Breer wrote. “The problem was that if the Steelers kept Fields, that could have been the end for Wilson as a Steeler.”

Those who didn’t believe Wilson could still deliver classic performances in Seattle are surely changing their minds after tonight’s win.

Fans flooded social media after the game to celebrate Wilson and Tomlin as the two led the team to a three-game winning streak.

It’s so amazing that Russell Wilson is having success in Pittsburgh. Had. A conversation with him this offseason that lasted hours. The way he spoke to me let me know that his confidence had not disappeared and that his belief in God’s plan for his love had not wavered. Very happy for him.

The Steelers enter a bye week, but will prepare to extend their winning streak to four against the Washington Commanders on the road in Week 10.
