Man seriously injured after being hit by a car

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in West Yorkshire.

Police received reports of a collision involving a 43-year-old man and a white Toyota Prius car on Doncaster Road, Wakefield, on Friday.

The incident occurred near the Wakefield Wildcats ground shortly before 01:00 GMT as the car was heading towards Crofton.

The man’s injuries are not life-threatening and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
