Tulsa DA addresses charges against Sperry High students in alleged rape case

The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office released a statement regarding the charges filed against the Sperry High School students. The students are accused of raping another student using instruments.

The district attorney’s office stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity of the judicial process, particularly given the ages of those involved.

This office will always strive to protect victims with the utmost respect, especially in a criminal act of this nature.

As with any criminal charge, the law presumes innocence until a judge or jury determines otherwise. Oklahoma law authorizes charging people as adults depending on the age of the alleged offender and the type of crime allegedly committed. Oklahoma law also allows some people charged with adult-level crimes to request that those cases be ultimately handled as a juvenile delinquency offense, or even as a juvenile delinquency offense. However, any decision on those possible outcomes rests with the trial court. – Tulsa County District Attorney

“We hope to present the facts of this case in court, which is where it should be judged, and not in the media,” the prosecutor added.
