Woman attacked after getting off bus at Waltham Cross

A 19-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in the town center after getting off a bus.

Hertfordshire Police said the woman got off the number 217 bus at Waltham Cross bus station at around 19:45 GMT on Monday and walked through the city towards Berkley Avenue.

When she entered an alley, she was grabbed and assaulted by a man, who police believe may have been on the bus and followed her.

He was then harassed by members of the public, police added.

The man is described as white, between 20 and 30 years old, with long brown hair that reaches past his shoulders.

He was wearing a shiny brown leather coat, a black beanie with the “Vans Off The Wall” logo on the front, blue jeans, dark sneakers, and a black backpack with a white vertical stripe down the center.

Detective Sergeant Paul Dicker said: “I would appeal to anyone who believes they can help identify the suspect through the description to get in touch.”

He also appealed for anyone with more information to get in touch.
